Making Mondays Less MANIC!!

Dear Moms,

Let's all say it: Sundays are simply the worst!! Sunday is the last day of the weekend and the eve of the madness the new week! We have to somehow manage to cling to the vibe of the weekend, attending church; and the occasional cookout all while bracing for the work schedule of Monday.

I have been doing some experimentation in my own home and I have found a few ways to make Sunday less stressful and Monday much more manageable. Below I list some of my favorite ways to seize some control over the chaos!

1. Prepare for Sunday on Friday. Yes, this may sound a bit odd- it's Friday and we are ready to get out of the office, and get INTO the weekend! However, if we simply put on a bit of a mindset that Sunday is coming and bringing on it's heels Monday on Friday...subconsciously we are already halfway there!

2. Set Your "Monday Alarm" on Sunday Morning. Again, you are probably reading this with a, "Whaaaaa?" face right now. Yet, again our minds are tricky little things and if we are already ahead of the proverbial game, our minds settle more easily into the already known. So, whip out that phone and set an alarm, tap that clock radio and make sure you're ready to rock 'n' roll!

3. Make a To-Do List For the Week. Planning is essential to success. It has been said when you, "fail to plan, you plan to fail." List your tasks for the week by scheduling what you can throughout the entire week. We often try to be Superwomen and cram as much into each day as possible. Spacing tasks that can be more readily dispersed through the entire week, makes for much less stress in each individual day! (Thank me later!)

4. Make Dinner For the Week. It can be a simple as taking a couple of packs of different meats out of the freezer and putting them on the grill (a whole chicken, some steaks, pork chops etc) or making a lasagna and a big pot of soup. These few extra steps during the weekend can shave LOADS of stress off of your workweek.

5. Make Time To Be Grateful. This may sound a bit cliche, but it is invaluable. Taking time out of your weekend (especially Sunday) can give you a renewed sense of joy and even purpose- that will offer you a reason for buoyancy on a day like MONDAY! lol

6. Plan Your Duds in Advance. Lay out the options for the entire week if you feel so inclined. It helps to visualize the week ahead, as you take into account the weather, and it will save you at least twenty minutes in each morning giving you a full HOUR and FORTY MINUTES of time for something else! Not sleep, lol maybe a quick workout, or even an option to walk to work!)

7. Schedule a Treat for the End of The Day. Making it through a Monday in today's fast paced world is a feat in itself! So, to reward yourself for making it through the rough side of the rat race... schedule a bit of a reprieve to close out the night. Set up a meeting at a local bar with some friends for a cocktail, or host a Monday Night TV viewing party. Getting together with people we enjoy gives a needed boost in mood, and if you plan it on Friday night on the way out of the office, you've helped to condition your mind even further into the coming routine!

8. Treat Yourself to Something Nice. After getting everything together in advance, offer yourself a a bit of a treat! Whether, it's a nice bottle of wine, a gourmet dessert, or an indulgent soak in a luxe bubble bath- indulge your senses and yourself with a bit of decadence. When you feel good, you are more apt to put your best foot forward!

I hope that these few tips help you to demystify Monday and enjoy your weekends even more! I have to step back into MY Monday, and so do you!

Until Next Time!
