Spring 101: Trends to Live For!  Spring is a time of renewal and fresh starts. From your attitude, wardrobe, or home; Spring can be a breath of fresh air! Let's get ready for spring with some of the hottest in new colors, trends and style coming straight from NYC FASHION WEEK! Let's talk about fabrics! This Spring fabric is a veritable buffet! Light and airy is the mood of the season. Victorian inspirations were spotted on the runways by way of: high collar necklines, floral prints, ruffles, and puffy sleeves. Fabrics like denim have even gotten on board in the form of shirts, dresses, and light weight jackets. Denim and diamonds, anyone? Suede is making a comeback in the season's offerings with 70's inspired pops on skirts and tops. Along with the 70's inspiration- hello, FRINGE! This isn't your typical, Biker Chic leather fringe- this is flowy, fabric fringe. This fringe may be just the ticket for those who are sceptical about embracing the returning tr...

I Didn't Feel Well Yesterday Dear Moms, I was feeling under the weather yesterday. I felt - blah. I'm not sure if it was because I may have had low iron yesterday but, I was feeling run down and sluggish. However, that didn't stop pretty much ANY of my day! I managed to still cook dinner, look fabulous, go shopping, run errands, take care of some banking...et cetera, et cetera. I NEVER get a REAL sick day. Lol I'm sure you can all relate! This poses an interesting problem for moms - what do you do on a sick day? If you're lucky enough to have a partner in your parenting, how do you divvy up the responsibilities? If you're in a single parenting position such as myself, how do you take time to take care of you? I've learned over the years to give the kids lists. Each child gets a list of duties to be carried out to "help me get better." The smaller the child, the more slight the tasks. I have not ever been one to completely stay in b...

RANT!!  Dear Moms, Today is a good old fashioned rant! I am frustrated as a mommy right now! I mean- I know what I signed on for: to be peed on, pooped on, puked on, bled and drooled on... The list goes on! But, I am tired of being tired! I don't think I've had a solid night sleep in over 12 years! That includes nights they may go with Nana, or aunts and uncles! What the hell, man?! Are any of you other moms experiencing this? Are the rest of you all hard wired to not sleep through the night no matter what happens?  I find myself getting up at 4 and 5 o'clock in the morning to do dishes! To prep dinner! Why am I not up at 4 in the morning trying to have sex?! Oh, well the fact that I'm single again could be one of the reasons why I'm not doing THAT... Lol But, you get my drift - I could be spending that time doing something like: SLEEPING! I find myself being sick and tired of being sick and tired. I mean, why am I the keeper of every one's thing...

Are You As Ready for Spring as I Am? Dear Moms, Spring is right around the corner! I can feel it in my soul! Lol I say this in jest, and with a bit of seriousness. I was born in May and I feel so at home outside - it's almost as if I have an internal clock that says, "DING, DONG- the season of US is upon us!" As we creep into the longer days, and warmer temperatures, I begin open up my home as if to invite the days of sun soaked freedom to come in. I always open all my curtains and blinds when there's sunlight! I absolutely love the way the house feels bathed in sunlight! See, how I blather on about how the Sun makes me happy?! My clock is on countdown mode and if you're a girl like me - feeling the "Spring Surge," here's some ways to do it with ease! Get Moving- Shake a tail feather, girl! The weather is about to warm up and you were going to have to again embrace shorts, tanks, and the dreaded SWIMSUIT! Eek! So, now's the t...

Discipline. How Do You Cope?

Image
Discipline . How do you cope? Dear Moms, I'm back. I'm sorry, yesterday there was no post. I was feeling under the weather so I indulged myself in some, "Harry Potter"  movies and bed rest! Anyway, I've been thinking about discipline lately. I've had some issues with some of the kids and behavior. I'm not a very strict parents, but I'm not a pushover either! I do believe in natural consequences. I do believe in taking away privileges, treats and or activities. I even participate in time outs. However, I will say it now and until forever: I will beat that @$$!! That is, when the situation presents itself. I was a child of corporal punishment, and frankly I think it did me some good. You would have never caught me stealing, breaking and entering and the like; because I KNEW my mom would draw and quarter me!! Lol I have the discipline list well, chart that hangs in my living room. It specifies certain offenses and their consequences. In my house ...
