Artwork! What to do With It?

Image
Dear Moms,  Do your kids looove to paint or draw? Do they scribble on any scrap of paper they can get their little hands on? Do you find doodles in the margins of books?! What do you do once you have amassed a ton of your little Picasso's "creations?" I had this conversation earlier today with a friend of mine on Facebook. She was speaking on how her son's artwork was beginning to kind of 'overrun' their home... you know- he loves to create and you, "don't want to discourage the creativity or stifle their freedom of expression- but the fridge is only so big and we're REALLY not trying to to incorporate the evolution of your artistry into the overall decor of the house" vibe? 🤷🏾‍♀️ So, I commented that I too had gone through this with my four. I used to keep all of their at home drawings, anything they made at school, and  daycare, church, church camp, the birthday party they went to two, five,72 weeks ago... it was becoming an unruly mess n...

What's up? What'd I miss?

Dear Moms, Howdy! So much happened this past week! Lol wowzers! Let's see what you've missed... 1) I started school on Monday 3/5/18! Yup. I decided to go back to school by accident! It was in the midst of doing some research for my job. Let me tell ya, the sales reps are really, REALLY effective for some of these schools! 😂 Well, I ended up getting my FAFSA done only to discover I had a defaulted student loan. 😱 I then began the relatively easy, and surprisingly, actually painless consolidation process. #ShoutOut to Great Lakes ! (Only took about a month from start to finish) Regardless, I am now an actively enrolled Graphic Arts, "freshman" at Independence University . 🎓 As I was writing this post..  I got some grade updates too! I had been stalking my professor for grades all week! 2) I have been up to my eyeballs in packing materials! Okay...I'm going to come clean guys- I have been doing a whole lot of online shopping. Lol like, Wal-Mart and ...

Stay Warm, Stay Heathy, Stay Hydrated!

Image
Dear Moms, So, once again it's cold and flu season. The worst on record in over 30 years. With multiple children and adults having died due to this outbreak. Arctic temps have been plaguing the nation, along with the usual winter blues, energy slumps… Let's face it, this season brings along more issues than Vogue !! One of the best ways to tackle each and every one of these maladies is simply staying hydrated! I KNOW you’re never without your water bottle when it’s hot out; but (oddly enough) it’s every bit as important to keep up that good habit throughout the winter season. Here’s the dish: It helps fend off colds and flu. Staying hydrated boosts your body’s immune function, so sip the day away! H 2 O helps ya heal! If you’re already sniffling and coughing from a cold or even worse, the flu- drinking plenty of fluids can help break up that pesky congestion, actually help your body fight the bug and even aide in soothing your headaches. Water eases digestion...

My Skinny Dinner Picks

Image
Dear Mom's, Hiya! Well, we have made it juuuust about entirely through the first month of 2018! How'd it go for ya? Was it torture or was it smooth sailing? I/we (yes, there's a new guy I my life! More on that in another post..) into a new house here in Rockford! My skin is glowing, my hair is growing like nobody's business! I got my job transferred from South Carolina and have been maintaining a healthy 153lbs! I've already stated that I don't partake in resolutions for the new year but; with my weight the way it is I HAVE been looking into some healthy-ish meal ideas. So, in my quest to be a better me- here's some "Skinny Weeknight Dinner" recipes that I ran across from Betty Crocker ! Usually, I give you meal ideas that don't take too long- 30 to 45 minutes start to finish is ideal for me; but this first dish is a whopping 60 minutes total! It's a One Pot Quinoa with Spicy Sausage. We've been slowly easing into the vegan lifest...

Dear Moms, Meals for the TOO Hot and TOO Tired      How have you been? As for myself, I have been very busy. I have also been HOT as ever! Are you dealing with massive heat waves in your neck of the woods? If so, drop us a comment on the temperature and how you have been coping in your neighborhood. I've been doing the summer job hustle; watching little cousins and taking trips to the beach, the park, the zoo.... I'm sure you get the idea! I am also in the middle of the school supply buying frenzy! Each and every time that I enter a Wal-Mart or Target I am exiting with pens, pencils, crayons, markers and the rest! I swear the last class I took was AT LEAST 12 years ago but, I still feel like I am in school! WTF ?! Needless to say, this mama is BEAT!! I have sooooo much to do and soooo very little time to do it in! THIS is what prompted this post... How many times have you been waiting on Mom to cook dinner already and then you realize t...

Back In Action

Dear Moms,  Hey there! How have you been?! It's so good to see you! You're looking good! Have you lost weight? gotten a new 'do? Well, whatever you've been doing, it looks good on you! Keep it up, Honey! Anyway, I am doing the same old same old...hustling, working, looking to make a way in the world. Lol ALL while trying to not screw my kids up COMPLETELY! So- where do I begin? Let's dive right in with one of my fave things to address here with you guys/gals: (hell, however YOU mother- mother up!) COCKTAILS!! With Mother's Day fast approaching- cocktails for the season will soon be flowing, and hopefully- with reckless abandon! Yes, hunty- I know how very stressful this whole parenting gig can prove to be, so let's not beat around the bush- no, BAR and let's get to it! It is officially spring and we have just entered into my birth month- so the turn up is underway! I like to find cocktails that either embody the season. Be it, the holidays within...

Finding My Inner Strength via: www.pintrest.com Retrieved: July 22, 2016 Dear Moms, Have you ever sat and thought about the things that you have been able to achieve? The goals you have met, the things you thought you would NEVER be able to do- but did?! They have recorded instances in which moms obtain almost superhuman strength when their children are in danger- like trapped under a piano, or a car or some junk. I mean, I personally never thought I would be able to survive a HUMAN BEING coming out of my va-jay-jay; but oddly enough I DID IT! TWICE! Lol I also NEVER believed that I would be able to successfully make it through a Cesarean Section...but I did that too- THREE TIMES to be exact! But, that's neither here nor there... I am thinking more along the lines of actual practices that you initially thought could not be done by you and then, lo and behold YOU DID IT?! Isn't it the BEST feeling in the world? Don't you just SWELL with pride? Don't you feel...

DE-Clutter for (and DURING) the Summer! Dear Moms,  So, I may or may not have already conveyed that I have developed OCD in the years I have been a mommy...lol but, it has turned out to be something that's been more favorable in my life than not. I say that to say this: when school lets out, I begin to get into Organization Mode. That means, I remove all the winter clothes and pack and label them to be put away, and I rotate out the summer clothes. I also start purchasing school uniforms, backpacks, etc in JULY- that way, by the time school gets started again, I have missed the rush, and I am already done. We buy the last minute items, and the things the kids WANT- versus what they NEED. In the same vein, I take the summer vacation to get the house, the activities, etc all organized as well. I have the types of children that if they are not given stimulation throughout the day, they will self destruct and go off the rails! I have a very stringent schedule for their down...

Random Thoughts I Have During the Day as a Mom +ScaryMommyTV   via Instagram Retrieved: May 21, 2016 Dear Moms, Some days are amazing as a mommy. Some days are stressful and some days are downright scary! But, have you ever had any thoughts about your children that are just downright inappropriate? Lol I personally have, and I figured I'd share some of them as they pertain to a particularly "meh," Mom day and the "Mommyisms" I HAVE to say in real life instead!  ***BE ADVISED THERE ARE SOME SWEARS*** 6:30 am: (Alarm goes off) Ugh, ok let's get moving . "Ugh, okay let's get moving." 7:00 am: (waking kids) Omg,why doesn't THIS one feel good today?! "Let me see if you have a fever, if not you're going to school." 7:22 am: Why the hell are they arguing over the damn TOILET?! "Yes, I know there is only one potty- but we have to share, okay?" 7:45 am: Fifteen fucking minutes before we hav...
