Stay Warm, Stay Heathy, Stay Hydrated!
Dear Moms,
So, once again it's cold and flu season. The worst on record in over 30 years. With multiple children and adults having died due to this outbreak. Arctic temps have been plaguing the nation, along with the usual winter blues, energy slumps… Let's face it, this season brings along more issues than Vogue!!
One of the best ways to tackle each and every one of these maladies is simply staying hydrated! I KNOW you’re never without your water bottle when it’s hot out; but (oddly enough) it’s every bit as important to keep up that good habit throughout the winter season.
Here’s the dish:
It helps fend off colds and flu. Staying hydrated boosts your body’s immune function, so sip the day away!
H2O helps ya heal! If you’re already sniffling and coughing from a cold or even worse, the flu- drinking plenty of fluids can help break up that pesky congestion, actually help your body fight the bug and even aide in soothing your headaches.
Water eases digestion! Let's keep it real mamas- we tend to eat richer foods in the winter. (Thank goodness for bulky sweaters, am I right?!) Anyhow, you staying hydrated keeps your digestive system running smoothly. This helps keep your energy up, too! Who can't use more energy during these bleak, grey, sunless days?
Water will spark workout recovery. Just in case you're one of, “those mamas” lol still working on those New Year’s resolutions and hitting the gym, staying hydrated will help your muscles recover more quickly. That means there will be no, “I’m too sore, I can't EVEN today.” excuses the next day.
Hydrate by day for great sleep. Staying hydrated means less snoring (maybe you'll be slipping that S.O. a water bottle too? Lol) and nighttime leg cramps, so you can get a more restful sleep. Better sleep equals more energy all day long! Bring on those SNOW DAYS!!
We’ve all heard that you should drink 8 8-oz. glasses of water a day, but that can really be hard to keep up, especially if you’re always on the go. (Yeah, ikr #DUH!)
The solution:
Upgrade your water with fruit! Adding oranges, limes, lemons, apples- you get it) will not only add flavor to your water, but vitamins and nutrients that your body loses by the minute!
Try the OTC immunoboosters like Airborne. These convenient powder packs can be tossed in your purse or lunch bag and easily poured into your water bottle. Starting at 6.97 at Walmart, they won't break the bank; and they have immune boosting agents like Echinacea and virus fighters like zinc.
I also recently found out from Clean Plates about Liquid I.V., a specific mix of potassium, sodium, and glucose that hydrates you faster and more efficiently than water alone.
Liquid I.V. beats other electrolyte drinks on the market, because this convenient powder uses Cellular Transport Technology (CTT), science pioneered by the World Health Organization that harnesses a specific ratio of electrolytes to allow water to be absorbed in the upper digestive tract. Normally liquids have to pass through the whole digestive system, and you lose water and nutrients along the way. This technology allows the H2O to be absorbed almost 4 times more! With Liquid I.V., your body absorbs 75 to 80 percent of the water you drink, instead of the 20 percent you get from regular water.
You can absolutely feel good about using Liquid I.V. because it’s vegan, gluten free and made from simple, clean non-GMO ingredients with no artificial sweeteners, colors or preservatives. It also provides vitamins B3, B5, B6, B12 and C, to boost energy and help boost your immune system!

I'm going to be giving Liquid I.V. a try and doing a journey journal as well as review on my YouTube channel: WTF?! My Life Is Pure Lunacy! Make sure you're subscribed so you can fill me in on your experience as well as learn from mine!
So, while you're getting ready to say, “Take that, winter!” as a Clean Plates reader I get 20% off Liquid I.V. with the code CLEAN20 and I'm sharing the discount with YOU! Give Liquid I.V. a shot and feel free to share your experiences with me!
While I am busy touting the values of water during these dry winter months, let us also be mindful of the water crises happening globally! Flint, Michigan STILL has no clean drinking water. Cape Town, South Africa is less than 190 days out from being completely OUT of water! If you would like to donate or contribute in some way to assist these people in continuing to thrive and survive; click the above "DONATE" link or visit www.water.org.
As always, keep calm and be a crazy mom & be good to each other!!
