Spring 101: Trends to Live For!

Spring is a time of renewal and fresh starts. From your attitude, wardrobe, or home; Spring can be a breath of fresh air! Let's get ready for spring with some of the hottest in new colors, trends and style coming straight from NYC FASHION WEEK!

Let's talk about fabrics! This Spring fabric is a veritable buffet! Light and airy is the mood of the season. Victorian inspirations were spotted on the runways by way of: high collar necklines, floral prints, ruffles, and puffy sleeves. Fabrics like denim have even gotten on board in the form of shirts, dresses, and light weight jackets. Denim and diamonds, anyone?

Suede is making a comeback in the season's offerings with 70's inspired pops on skirts and tops. Along with the 70's inspiration- hello, FRINGE! This isn't your typical, Biker Chic leather fringe- this is flowy, fabric fringe. This fringe may be just the ticket for those who are sceptical about embracing the returning trend of roomy pants. Think the high waisted, balloon top pant ALL self respecting 90's girls owned! Even down to being paired with the classic mid drift, tight top!

Pattern play is also a big part in this Spring's delights. Once precocious plaid, is now superfluous! Exaggerated plaid is everything and everywhere from ponchos to skirts. Designers like: Michael Kors, DVF, and Oscar De la Renta brought a Spanish flavor with flamenco and toreador flourishes (think knife pleats) that will surely be gracing style in your stores this spring.

Color is everywhere in Spring. Blooms and blossoms in hues of pink, red, and purple begin to peek out of the earth as we begin to peek out of sweaters. The hot color for spring this year is orange. Different shades from dayglow to peachy tangerines are a big, bright win!

No outfit is ever complete without it's accessories, and this season is all about METAL! Think, thick chains, locks and other post modern hardware. Bohemian inspired earrings have also gotten a post- apocalypchic chic feel with glass and metal embellishments. The Victorian influence is felt in collar bone necklaces, and with Baroque-esque (pearls and cameos) earrings with the continuing post mod, Goth feel. Think, Interview With A Vampire meets Pam from True Blood.

Multiple long strand necklaces and pendants are creating delightful looks of sophistication to even the simplest of looks. Pairing a simple, open, white button down with a colorful Cami and some strands and jeans can't go wrong!  Headbands are also making a statement with ornate metal work and dazzling jewels this season- hello happy hair days!

Silk scarves are back in a major way- so go ahead and feel free to "tie one on," this spring!

Everything is all about how you feel in it. After all, the sexiest thing a woman can wear is CONFIDENCE!

Until Next Time!
