Ways To Treat Seasonal Allergies That Are Nothing to Sneeze At!
Dear Moms,
hiya! It is true that I have been away for a minute AGAIN! okay, hear me out... SCHOOL omg, is kicking my butt...I am finding myself more and more swamped by the day! I never know when one 4 week mod ends and a new one begins if I am going to have one class or two and I never know what class/classes it will be next! (sidebar: I have been really lazy and I never really looked into how to see what classes I would be taking, so I just let them happen!) I know that they are leading me to my Associate's degree in Graphic Arts and I am super excited! I have been maintaining an A-B average in all of my courses, and some of them were on a rocky footing, in the beginning, to say the least! But, I did my best and buckled down and pulled those shaky grades right back to where they needed to be!
I also had a rescue dog for a while, we dubbed her Roxxy, but she found her home again and all was well.
Then, I rescued a kitten! Lol, I spotted her from my kitchen window in my upper unit...and I flew downstairs with a bath towel and scooped her up. Her mama ran off and hasn't returned which kind of makes me sad- because my intent was to rescue them both. I had intended on naming her mom Ruth and the baby Bader-Ginsberg cuz, what feminist doesn't wanna say that #RBG is in their house?! However, we decided as a family that we would go with my second choice of dual name combos...Mom was to be Maxine and the baby is Waters. To this day, the kitten is known as Waters, she knows her name and is always willing to, "reclaim her time" if you know what I mean!
We have another kitty on his way named Jerry and hopefully, he will mesh as well as Waters and Rolie do now...pray for me, folks!
I mentioned up above that I spotted Miss Waters from my upper unit- yes, we moved! AGAIN! lol we moved into a duplex and we are going to purchase the entire building! So, that means two kitchens to get livable, two living rooms, two dining rooms, and SIX bedrooms to fix, and remodel and finish.
I also started a new company! Yes, #EBE is about to fully launch and you're going to LOOOOOOVEE IT! In case you're not familiar with my ramblings let me fill you in: I have recently become obsessed with natural healing and the usage of essential oils for whatever ails me. I decided one day as I was whipping up a batch of my own shampoo that others may just want to do what I am doing WITHOUT having to actually DO it! So, I created- Essential Bath Elements or #EBE for short. So, I am taking my love of all things natural and creating products like dry shampoos, shampoo bars, conditioner shots and so much more to create a more beautiful and fulfilled you, naturally. ***Gratuitous praise break*** You are an amazing mother! You are doing your level best to provide food, clothing, and shelter to your progeny. You are providing them with all of the love you know how and teaching them the best ways you can! YOU'RE AWESOME! Go ahead, and give yourself a pat on the back- I'll wait. Did you do it? I hope you did and if you didn't, let me do it for ya, " Pat, pat, pat- you are loved, valued and appreciated!"
Okay, in the midst of enjoying your children and summer season- did you experience any allergy symptoms? I DID! I sneezed, coughed, my eyes ran and my head pounded like a tomtom. Luckily for me, and you- I stumbled upon some treatments you can do at home to alleviate your seasonal allergy suffering!
TRICK #1: APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Yes, I know we have all heard all of the great things that apple cider vinegar can do for our bodies..but, did you know that this little miracle that's probably in your cupboards right this very minute can reduce your allergy symptoms? It is best to purchase organic, unfiltered ACV that contains the "mother." That's the part of the ACV that contains the beneficial bacteria that helps to alleviate your symptoms. Just pour a teaspoon of ACV into a cold cup of water and drink 'er down, three times a day! It has also been said that taking smaller doses of ACV at varying times of the day can aid in weight loss and improve one's digestion. I think we can all agree to that being beneficial in more ways than one.
TRICK #2: BRUSH AWAY THE DUST AND COBWEBS
One of the most common allergens people deal with is dust. WHY? Well, we just may never understand that but, it does go without saying that we will never be fully rid of dust. That's because dust is comprised of mostly dead skin cells that flake off, float through the air and land on our home and workspace items. A regular dusting schedule, like once a week should help to tamp those symptoms, but if not- maybe think of hiring a professional service to come through and give a more thorough cleaning for you.
TRICK #3: GREEN TEA
Green tea is also known for its widely used natural treatment for a number of reasons. Green tea can help alleviate your allergy sufferings because of its antihistamine properties, which can help you to breathe easier. Just take two cups a day for about two weeks before allergy season is to begin. Be mindful, that this course of treatment can interfere with skin allergy testing, so you may want to wait until after you've gotten the confirmation of allergies from your doctor before you start.
TRICK #4: BEE-FRIEND A LOCAL HONEY
The main premise behind this course of treatment is that when one ingests local, raw honey- they are inherently taking in a variety of pollens from local plants and they are in a sense- immunizing themselves from the inside out. Consuming a local, raw honey may help the body build up its own immunities to local pollens that may be a bit bothersome. There's no real proof to this theory- but loads of people swear by this method to counteract their allergy symptoms. It's best to take 1 teaspoon of raw honey from as close to your approximate area as possible, and in some cities- you may even be able to get honey that was produced right in your own neighborhood.
TRICK #4: AVOID THE SPORE
Mold is one of the most common allergens within our homes and outside. The hard part about this allergy is that it has to be diagnosed in professional testing and many don't know they have a mold allergy or sensitivity because they have never been officially tested and diagnosed. However, once your allergy has been identified, getting a HEPA filter for your home's ventilation system or at least in the rooms you most frequent will reduce the mold spores within your home. Running exhaust fans in rooms with high humidity like bathrooms or enclosed basements can also help reduce the mold present in your home. Likewise, when you're heading outdoors, avoid places with lots of leaf debris and to keep those molds outside- remove your shoes before coming into the house.
TRICK #5: THE NOSE KNOWS
Your schnoz is the way that most airborne allergens into the body. Sadly, this causes a multitude of breathing problems from running noses, stuffy noses, and itchy, watery, puffy eyes. To alleviate these symptoms, it can be beneficial to use a neti pot to rinse out those nasal invaders. This id sone by dissolving a teaspoon of Himalayan pink sea salt into distilled water and boiling it. Let the salt water cool and then our the saline solution into one nostril and let it drain out through the other.
TRICK #6 OIL FIX YOU RIGHT UP
There are a few essential oils that you can incorporate into your life to relieve your allergy symptoms like Lavender oil, or a blend of frankincense, sandalwood, and Ravensara oil. Eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, peppermint, and even lemon oil! There are many methods of using essential oils for your allergies. You can diffuse them into the air, or use them as bath and spa products, apply them directly to the skin when diluted or just sniffing them directly from their containers.
I hope that these tips were of some use and that your allergies do not stand in the way of your absolute greatness! That's all for now, and as always- keep calm and be a crazy mom!
