My job is a bit slow on the transfer this go 'round... But, I'm keeping the faith and "trusting the process." #WhateverTheHellTHATMeans lol 3. So, mamas... what did I bring for you today?! It's a new year and even though I don't really believe in resolutions- I am an avid believer in starting the year off right! What better way to accomplish that than DECLUTTERING?!

I've got six tips to usher you into a less cluttered 2018! How cool is that?! So, without further ado... I can clearly hear some of you grumbling already, let's get decluttering!

So, in 2017- did you go to the grocery store mentally prepared? As in, you used your memory to keep track of the items you needed to grab? In 2018- give your mind a break! Switch it up and grab a cute little notepad, or go digital with your list! There are a few great apps that you can create your grocery list- like Ibotta!

This app actually pays you (in points you can trade in for gift cards) for shopping you already do for items you were probably going to buy anyway! What the what?! 😡😡 Plus, it organizes the items by category and could keep you from aimlessly wandering the aisles. That means: less reckless spending! Yay you, smart spender!

In the same vein as the groceries- let's get on top of the fridge! No- not literally!! In 2017, I totes forgot about things in the back of the refrigerator (REPEATEDLY) which led to finding mad scientist type experiments and some pretty funky smells!

In 2018, I am using the personal assistant function on my phone, you could also use your whole house assistant (Alexa, Google etc.) to keep track of expiration dates. I'm also going to implement a weekly fridge cleanse. So, if it's on it's way OUT- we have permission to eat it UP! (NOTICE: this a New Year's decluttering blog post, not a New Year's DIETING blog post!)

Last year, I bet you hung on to EVERY item of clothing you purchased, acquired, whatever, even if you NEVER wore it. Right?! Tell the truth... That sweater your mom gave you that you loved on her- just didn't have the same look on you? Yup, look in that closet...you know it's there!! In 2018- we (yes, me too- I'm in this with ya!) are gonna go through the clothes in the closet and GET RID of anything you didn't wear in a seasonal period. Yes, those Christmas themed leggings too...

Since we're liquidating clutter, lemme touch upon THIS: in 2017- you, like myself, bought things that you really didn't have a need or real desire for just because it was "on sale." Hands?

But, in 2018- if you don't NEED it or you're just not PASSIONATE about it... DON'T BUY IT!! I'm so serious, people! I don't give a flying flute and a rolling donut if it is 99.7% off; if it's not a necessity or an item that brings you joy- REAL joy... Leave it where it is!

I know ALL of 2017 I had a "spot" for my "not so decluttered declutterings" i.e. the shyt I was claiming to be dealing with, but was really just stashing in a new out of sight spot. Think, the basement, the garage, the attic- the spare bedroom! OMG! This year however, I am breaking the cycle! When I take the things I am to be getting rid of, away- I will ACTUALLY be taking the crap AWAY!

This means, if it is tagged for Goodwill, I will be taking it TO Goodwill right then and there! Not riding around until the next season when I have yet ANOTHER load for Goodwill! I know that there's a few of you like this reading right now! Don't be ashamed. It happens to the best of us! This also means that I will be using a greater resolve in all of my "getting rid of's." No more of the box and stash on the fly... If you took the time to box it or bag it- take the few extra minutes to take it away! WE CAN DO IT! Hey, that was a two fold tip- call me Butter, cuz I'm on a ROLL!

Last but not least, 2017 was the year of "The Basket." No, this not a new sign in the Chinese zodiac... This is my biggest pitfall to organization and decluttering! I will start with an organized flat surface, desktop, couch, bench etc. and toss a sweater on it. Before I know it, I have amassed an entire PILE of clothing... Then, I get would get angry with myself for the mess and I became overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the mess, and probably procrastinate the cleaning process. THIS practically allowed the mess to legit, DOUBLE in size before I got around to it. *Holding my head in despair*

But, THIS year... *Drumroll* I will NO longer begrudgingly take those extra steps to the closet. I'm not going to just lay it down, I will simply HANG IT UP! I have even gone so far as to limit my open flat surface space in my home. You don't have to go THIS far; but just take those extra steps to that newly rotated and cleaned out closet and hang those clothes up! Hey, another two in one tip! I helped you declutter AND helped you get some extra steps!! (Thank me, laterπŸ˜‚)

Do you have any other ideas, or tips?! If so, leave a comment below! I look forward to hearing from you all & as always, be good to each other!!
