Migraine and Anemia Rantings  Dear Moms, I recently had to face the truth about the seriousness of living with anemia. I have had anemia my entire life and never knew the true depths of how ugly it can get. I have discovered in my research, that living with anemia is wrought with hidden pitfalls that deplete the body's natural iron levels. Seemingly, every other thing one puts in their mouths on a daily basis is a culprit; robbing the body of iron. Soda, cow's milk, tannins in tea and coffee, and omeprazole (active ingredient in Prilosec an OTC heartburn medication) all deplete your iron levels. So, having an already depleted blood iron content (being anemic) and enjoying the ingestion of the abovementioned items... ¡No es bueno! Anemia is linked to restless leg syndrome and also known to be a cause of Anxiety and Depression. It causes insomnia, and even migraines! And all this time my mother just said I was "special" lol I was obviously being driven mad by ...

Making Mondays Less MANIC!! Dear Moms, Let's all say it: Sundays are simply the worst!! Sunday is the last day of the weekend and the eve of the madness the new week! We have to somehow manage to cling to the vibe of the weekend, attending church; and the occasional cookout all while bracing for the work schedule of Monday. I have been doing some experimentation in my own home and I have found a few ways to make Sunday less stressful and Monday much more manageable. Below I list some of my favorite ways to seize some control over the chaos! 1. Prepare for Sunday on Friday. Yes, this may sound a bit odd- it's Friday and we are ready to get out of the office, and get INTO the weekend! However, if we simply put on a bit of a mindset that Sunday is coming and bringing on it's heels Monday on Friday...subconsciously we are already halfway there! 2. Set Your "Monday Alarm" on Sunday Morning. Again, you are probably reading this with a, "Whaaaaa?" f...

A-Ha! Bet You Thought I Forgot... Dear Moms,  A-ha! I bet you thought I had a crazy mom moment and forgot to include the cocktail recipes!! NOPE! I DID have a crazy mom moment, but then I just figured I would put this out there in a separate post... I mean, cocktails are easily worthy of having their very own post; they have kept my children alive for YEARS! I kid, I kid...or am I? lol  (I am, by the way- but there have been days that a good cocktail got me through to bedtime! We've all been there, right?!) Sooooo, with that being said, I have done extensive research online on summer cocktails (mainly because school is about to be out and well, YOU know... wink, wink, nudge nudge. I have scoured the web- left and right far and wide, I have found a few AWESOME sites that offer email newsletters, so that's a plus! Anyway, why needlessly blather on...let's get to those recipes! This one, I got from Food & Wine via Bobby Flay; is SUMMERTIME in A Glass! It's ...

Random Thoughts I Have During the Day as a Mom +ScaryMommyTV   via Instagram Retrieved: May 21, 2016 Dear Moms, Some days are amazing as a mommy. Some days are stressful and some days are downright scary! But, have you ever had any thoughts about your children that are just downright inappropriate? Lol I personally have, and I figured I'd share some of them as they pertain to a particularly "meh," Mom day and the "Mommyisms" I HAVE to say in real life instead!  ***BE ADVISED THERE ARE SOME SWEARS*** 6:30 am: (Alarm goes off) Ugh, ok let's get moving . "Ugh, okay let's get moving." 7:00 am: (waking kids) Omg,why doesn't THIS one feel good today?! "Let me see if you have a fever, if not you're going to school." 7:22 am: Why the hell are they arguing over the damn TOILET?! "Yes, I know there is only one potty- but we have to share, okay?" 7:45 am: Fifteen fucking minutes before we hav...

What's Up? What's Happening? Dear Moms,  Well, school is down to the last two weeks for us... Time to get the bubbles, bats and balls, and water balloons on deck in my house! Well, maybe not the water balloons yet- it's still only an average of like 55 degrees daily right now! LOL Moms in NW Indiana sit at BASEBALL games like this! I just had my 34th birthday two days ago, and I am ready to set this new year of my life on FIRE!This birthday was an eye opener on all the things I had let fall to the wayside in my life. ME! Being a mom can be rewarding, fulfilling, and even fun! But, let's face it: being a mom can also be draining. Financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of who WE are, and were as we fill our days with lunch packing, carpools and homework. Look Familiar to you? We as moms have to find out who we are, and who we want to be, because at some point, the kids will be adults and on their own...

HELP, I AM BREATHING TOO MUCH!! A Mom to Mom Rant Dear Moms, I am at my breaking point and allergy season just got started for me!! Here's the thing, earlier this week I was congested beyond my wildest dreams! I felt like my head weighed a solid ton- only it was accompanied by a feeling that my head was made of lumpy, wet cement! I ran to the store and grabbed Zyrtec, and some basic sinus decongestant. The Zyrtec did NADA on day one- but the off brand decongestant was spot ON! Made me a bit drowsy... I was okay with the naps though, I'm a mom. That means I'm CRAZY- not STUPID! lol Now, the middle of the week offered a bit of a reprieve and I was able to be a bit more physically active. My head no longer felt like it was made of newly poured sidewalk! Today, Friday the 13th- WITH a full moon tonight; I can't stop breathing! Okay, wait...lol that came out wrong. I am getting so MUCH air, I can't stand it! My face internally actually FEELS cold, because so muc...
