Top 5 Ways to Beat the A.M. Animosity
A Mom - to- Mom Journal

Dear Moms,

We have all been there, it's 7:40 a.m. and the everyone has to be somewhere by 9 a.m. THAT means we have to be leaving in 20 minutes! It's been my experience that in OUR house the only way to deal with these mornings was to scream and swear like a hybrid crazy lady/sailor & hope to God we all had what we needed for the day!

Luckily, mornings like this are a thing of the past in our house.

You can be saying the same thing if you follow these handy tips:

5. MAKE A PLAN! - It is said that when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Figure out what the schedule is to be for the week. Or plan it out day by day the night before. It helps if you verbalize the plan aloud so, within the last hour before bedtime try talking with your spouse/ significant other or even the kids and let everyone know what's expected of them for the next day.

4. Look into the Future! - No this doesn’t mean you have to become Miss Cleo! But, it does mean give flexibility to your timing and schedule. Always make sure you allow enough time to accommodate sudden hiccups ie. sudden illness (you or kids), traffic. Also, make sure to keep calendars handy to alert one another of events, practices, trips, etc. (Google has some excellent device syncing available so the whole family can be involved- and it's FREE!)

3. If it Can be Done Do It Now!  - From ironing clothes from the dryer, to prepping dinner while your coffee is brewing. Small tweaks to your mundane tasks are not only shaving off time but some unwelcome stress too! So go ahead girlfriend, while you're packing their lunches TODAY make a couple more containers of baby carrots and store ‘em in the fridge for tomorrow!

2. Ask For HELP! - in in my house kids outnumber adults. To save time I make the kids pair up. An older one with a little one & they make sure EACH OTHER gets ready for school. You may not have to do this but, ask them to help out. Pouring their own cereal and clearing their dishes is a step in the right direction. After all a family is nothing, if not a team!

1. LET IT GO! - last but not least - be kind to yourself, your spouse / significant other, and your kids. Everyday isn’t going to run smoothly and that's okay. If you have a 60% morning instead of 100% just hug everybody a little bit tighter, meditate on what went wrong and how NOT to repeat it again. Remember, tomorrow is a new beginning!
