Spa Stay-cation!
I know being a Mommy is hard work. Like for realsies back breaking, emotionally draining, sometimes soul crushing WORK! YES- I SAID IT! (It's high time someone stop sugar coating this whole parenting gig and admit the real deal!) Lol
Anyway, with the "Stay-cation" becoming the new norm for many of us with kids; a thought occured to me.
Why can't I take a SOLO SPA Stay-cation?!
Ask a silly question, get a silly answer because I COULD and let me tell you - I DID and continue to DO so! You too can take a break and, I'm going to give you some ways to luxuriate at home. Most of these items are probably in your kitchen or medicine cabinet right now; but if not they can be picked up right around the corner I'm sure!
Papaya Facial-
This mask is super, duper easy to make and can help reduce wrinkles! Which will in turn allow you to look relaxed and unstressed-- even though the hamster is in the vacuum, and you're twenty minutes behind leaving for soccer practice! The reason for the rejuvenation: papaya has enzymes in it that are very much like alpha hydroxy acid.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons of blended papaya
1/3 cup oatmeal
1 tablespoon honey
Directions:
Blend all ingredients together. Smooth mask on to face and leave on for five to 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

Honey Steam-
One of my favorite at home treatments feels, "oh so decadent" and costs nothing if you are a honey user like myself! Because it's probably always in your cupboards, you never appreciate the beauty benefits of HONEY, Honey! Honey is a humecant, a moisturizer. It is also antibacterial, and full of antioxidants which "reverse" the signs of aging. So long, crow's feet! Honey also opens your pores and makes them ready for a good unclogging toner.
Ingredients:
2 TBS. Raw Honey
1 lg. Bowl with boiling water/ Facial Steamer *CAUTION* Using steam can be dangerous. Use precaution when using steam and steaming liquids
1 lg. Bath Towel
Directions:
Rub the honey over the surface of your face. Place the bowl with the water /steamer in front of you on a level, sturdy surface. Place the towel over your head as you place your face over the steam. Sit, breathe and enjoy for fifteen minutes*. Rinse the honey off with warm water.
* To intensify the effects of the honey, leave it on for thrity minutes and rinse in a steamy shower. (Wash your hair or shave your legs in that last fifteen minutes! You're on STAY-cation after all.)
Coconut Oil Collaboration-
Another moisturizer that just might be waiting to beautify you in your kitchen is, Coconut oil! From oral detoxing to hair repair, coconut oil is a versatile ally! Below are a few of the many ways I use coconut oil in my regime!
Faux Hot Oil Treatment-
Coconut oil is very light but, packs a major moisture punch. With a 75°F melting point, a shower is a great place to let it work to revive dry, dull hair! So, after shampooing apply a "healthy" amount of melted coconut oil over your wet hair. Twist your hair into a bun, or knots for shorter styles and allow the oil to remain in for at least five minutes. Rinse your hair and style as usual!
Cuticle Massage-
One of your least thought about when thinking massage therapy: your cuticles! The very delicate skin around your nail is often neglected in the moisturizing process, leading to unhealthy nails and the dreaded HANG NAIL! Worry not, coconut oil will change that jiffy- literally. Using a finger or cotton swab swipe a bit of coconut oil on each cuticle. Let it absorb in.
If you are able to carve out some time, massage it into your cuticles and nails...this can be done watching TV! *BONUS* Just think, a reason to SIT STILL! An opportunity to catch up on "Vikings!" Just you and that oh so yummy Ragnar Luffbrook...um, AND you are strengthening your nails and hydrating your cuticles too!!
Enjoy your spa stay-cation and remember, you're a mom. You work hard and deserve to relax! Here's to YOU!
